Daniel Ekonde

I grew up in Buea, Cameroon, listening to the radio and believing it was the best medium to fight injustice I’d witnessed in my community. So, I got a journalism degree to kickstart my career as a radio journalist, telling impact-driven stories. When I took a TV job, I’d been exposed to the world through online reporting including Global Voices, where I volunteered for several years, covering environment, human interest and health. Today, I’m a UC Berkeley alumnus who has reported for Oakland North, The Oaklandside, Berkeleyside, The North Bay Bohemian, Mission Local and many others.
